The internet is a wide place of wonder but sometimes all you want is to know what’s trending and how to get it. It might be cult favorite beauty products or putting together pieces for the trendy “coastal grandmother” look. Or, it might just be TikTok’s newest fad.
The new, “butterfly haircut” is all over TikTok. This trendy new haircut style claims to be versatile and for virtually any face shape and hair type.
Brad Mondo, who has developed his own cult-fan following with over 9 million followers on TikTok, posted a video of himself performing a, “butterfly cut,” and the rest was history.
Think of short face-framing layers in the front mixed with longer layers in the back. It delivers volume and movement without sacrificing on hair length.
Mondo’s video has garnered over 21 million views. This might just be the viral TikTok haircut you’ll want to try out!
Celebrity stylist Clariss Anya Rubenstein spoke to BYRDIE about how the butterfly cut feels like a modern take on “The Rachel.” “I think we are having a resurgence of ’90s trends and this was a major one,” Rubenstein says.
Everything from the 90’s does seem to be making its way around the block again. From fanny packs to classic remakes like, “Father of the Bride.”
The search hashtag, #butterflycut, on TikTok reveals hundreds of videos of people trying out the infamous haircut at home. This is not your average sit-in-the-bathtub-while-mom-gives-you-a-bowl-cut look. Some tutorials have amassed thousands of views while others are in the millions.
Mondo’s video has comments from followers who followed his tutorial and others who agree it’s worth the hype it’s getting.
