This flamingo-inspired jewelry collection celebrates motherhood and “getting your pink back”

Motherhood is a lot of things. It’s joy. It’s exhaustion. It’s humbling and hard and occasionally triumphant. It’s an evolution. There’s the you that existed before and this brand new version who feels all at once familiar and completely transformed. A mama.

And as beautiful and powerful of an evolution as that is, let’s be honest–it’s kind of scary, too, isn’t it? This tiny creature is completely dependent on you! Round the clock, day after day, you’re the answer, whether you have the answers or not. (Spoiler alert: None of us have all the answers. We’re just taking our best guess.) All that need, all that pressure, it makes it almost inevitable that along the way you feel like maybe you’ve lost yourself all together.

If you were a flamingo, this transformation would literally take the pink right out of you.

Truly. When raising their babies, both male and female flamingos lose their signature pink hue due to the demands of feeding and caring for their young. The good news? As their babies get older and less dependent, their color comes back. Did I learn this from a science journal? Nope. I learned it from Lindsey Gurk. Mama, entrepreneur, TikTok star and (somewhat accidental) founder of Get Your Pink Back, she’s started a movement that’s resonating with moms all over the world. And in celebration of National Flamingo Day, she’s launched a gorgeous jewelry collection in collaboration with the mama-owned and inspired Tiny Tags.

The Lindsey Gurk for Tiny Tags Collection

Gurk, who has now outfit thousands of re-pinking moms (we’re making this a word, so just go with it) with tees and hoodies is thrilled to partner with a brand that’s not just a champion of motherhood, but a personal favorite as well.

“I love that they have a story behind [the brand]. They are just genuine women. They care about women, they care about mothers. And I want jewelry to be something that lasts—an heirloom. So it was really important for me that the pieces were well made and Tiny Tags was just the perfect fit,” says Gurk in an interview with Motherly.

Tiny Tags is a go-to for delicate personalized jewelry that’s designed for everyday wear. From their best-selling “Mama” necklace to the sweet Mommy and Me Collection, each piece is made with the deep love of motherhood in mind.

But Gurk didn’t collaborate on the three-piece collection alone. As she’s done for all her GYPB collections, she brought her “internet friends” (a term she prefers to “followers”) along for the ride. Through Instagram Q & A’s and polls she got feedback on styles and designs to help bring the pieces to life.

“I knew with Get Your Pink back–it never felt like my thing. It felt like something that we could all be part of. And again, I didn’t know what I was doing and I just wanted to make something that people genuinely loved, something that they would wear. So I just asked them about everything. My online friends were the ones that wanted a shirt. So why not just ask them exactly what they wanted? And I had them choose the designs.”

As moms, we need to be reminded that this season of life is temporary. That with time, support and a heaping helping of self care, we too will get our pink back.

“Having people say, ‘I was in the thick of it. I lost all my pink, I was pale. I was like a pale, pale white, not even any ounce of pink.’ And to hear people say that this story has encouraged them to take care of themselves because I know what it was like, too. Like if you took a hot shower, you felt like that self-care. Um, prisoners get a shower, you know? So to have people just take care of themselves so that they’re able to better be there for their families? It’s everything.”

The Lindsey Gurk for Tiny Tags Collection is available in 14k gold, gold vermeil, and sterling silver at TinyTags.com.
