When it comes to just about everything, as moms, we’re all about that famous “K-I-S-S” method: “Keep It Simple, Stupid” (not that anyone is stupid, per se, but we didn’t originate this popular saying). And one way to keep things simple this Halloween? Dressing up as Ms. Rachel. Because let’s be honest, we all have pink shirts and headbands. And if you don’t already own a pair of overalls, here’s the permission you need to indulge your nostalgia by purchasing a pair.
In case you don’t have a baby or toddler, Ms. Rachel is to little ones today what Barney and Sharon, Lois, and Brahm were to millennials when we were wee tots. She has a YouTube channel called “Songs for Littles” that is insanely popular and has over 6.5 million subscribers.
“Songs for Littles” is a collection of educational and entertaining songs designed for young children, and has often been positively touted by early childhood educators. Ms. Rachel’s songs often focus on themes like learning the alphabet, numbers, colors, and various aspects of early childhood development, and grown-ups often get her songs stuck in our heads even more than our kids do.
When asked about becoming a Halloween costume, Ms. Rachel (real name: Rachel Griffin Accurso) is delighted about it.
“It’s absolutely precious! I think it is the sweetest thing! I love seeing tiny teachers!” she tells TODAY.com. “I hope I run into a ‘Ms. Rachel’ trick-or-treater on Halloween. I would love to meet them and sing a song together.”

TikTokker and Virginia mom Claire Ashley is dressing as Ms. Rachel on Halloween for the benefit of her 2-year-old son, who is—of course—a huge fan.

“We love Ms. Rachel because she makes learning so comfortable and fun,” Ashley says. “My son has become more expressive since watching her show, picking up new words and talking with curiosity and excitement. I can tell that Ms. Rachel pours her heart into her videos and my son mirrors that passion and excitement.”
And, you know, if dressing up as Ms. Rachel isn’t your thing (or you’re on the fence about those overalls), you can always dress your little one up!
