Pals socks is a best-foot-forward apparel store in Philadelphia that believes that our children need to learn early on that welcoming our differences is important to create a more supportive society! Tiny feet and a BIG message makes for a creative, engaging and novel business, one that has been growing since 2016 and is now found in 800+ independent global retailers. Here is our interview with Pals founder, Hannah Lavon:
What has been the journey to creating Pals?
I originally created and manufactured mismatched battling animal mittens for adults, called Vs. Mittens. Selling mittens were too seasonal, and I wanted to be a full-time business owner. Mittens morphed into socks but rebranded to a message I felt passionate about: that you can be friends with someone who is not exactly like you, be it the way you look, your religion, and even if you have a differing favorite color. Pals Socks introduces this open minded concept of friendship to kids in an easy and unassuming way that will impact their life as they grow. After launching at the end of 2015, Pals are now available in 800+ retailers in US and Canada, been featured in numerous publications like GMA, USA Today, Parents Magazine the Washington Post and the book ‘Girls Who Run the World’.
What do you hope to achieve with Pals?
We really just want to touch as many little minds as possible to send good vibes to each other and make our planet a cooler place to live in. We show younger and older kids (and adults) how awesome it is when our friends are different! And how life can be a fun adventure when you are more open to new people and experiences.
Who is Pals target audience?
Young socially conscious design forward moms!
How does your Pals empower its clients and the wider community?
Through our socks and baby booties, we empower the next generation to be more open minded, less afraid of the unknown and unexpected.
Not only is spreading the love part of our mission, it’s also important to us that we give back. Pals Socks works with different organizations who have similar goals of making our daily existence happier, kinder and more peaceful.
