Nirvana Soul is a Black owned coffee shop in downtown San Jose, CA. Nirvana Soul is owned by two Black women, Jeronica Macey and Be’Anka Ashaolu who believe that it is important to make an impact on the coffee business industry within the Bay Area. Macey and Ashaoulu are sisters, best friends, and business owners who have been on this entrepreneur journey for the past ten years. Nirvana Soul is a unique coffee shop that is meant to be a place where one meets new faces, tries new baked goods, and enjoys the art displayed throughout the establishment. They ultimately value the 3 C’s: coffee, community, and culture.
Nirvana Soul is a place where good food is served, phenomenal coffee is poured, and anyone is welcomed. Ashaolu explains, “So here’s what we’re envisioning. Nirvana Soul is a spiritual retreat, a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the outside world. Jeronica and I have a special and unique bond as sisters and best friends. We want people to feel that joy as soon as they walk through the door. The decor will be eclectic, warm, vibrant, and inviting. It’ll be full of creative expression from art to music that will inspire the artist in us all.” These women are not only breaking gender role barriers, but racial and societal constructs as well. Nirvana Soul is a thriving Black-owned business that prioritizes the wants and needs of their customers before anyone else.
