News anchor mom captures her family’s hysterical road trip in viral TikTok: ‘My family is a TRIP’

Kayla Sullivan is a news anchor mom whose videos are always going viral because they’re belly-aching, laugh-out-loud funny. Not to mention, she reports on the day-to-day realities of #momlife, like reporting on her toddler’s tantrum, in the funniest way possible.

Her recent video, a family road trip TikTok, is going viral on social media. In her signature news caster voice, she captures the frustrations of a family road trip—complete with all of the snack stops, gas station delays and, of course, yelling at the driver.

“Kayla Sullivan reporting live from our family road trip where we were scheduled to leave promptly at 7 a.m. It’s 1:23 p.m. and we are just now leaving the driveway,” she starts.

“I can confirm I was packed and ready,” she says, “But it appears some Sullivans are slower than others.” You can hear her mom pipe up in the background and say, “Kayla Marie,” in her mom voice. It’s a hilarious start to the video but it also captures the essence of any (and every) family road trip where you’re running late from the get-go and tensions are running high.

It wouldn’t be a road trip without multiple stops, right? If you’re wondering how long it took them to make their first stop, well, it wasn’t very long.

“We are only 30 minutes into this road trip and they’ve already stopped at a gas station,” she reports. She also hands the mic to her the kids who are along for the ride, the mic being a salad dressing packet from her risky gas station salad bowl. The adorable kiddos confirm that getting an icee is “absolutely necessary.”

The best part is when she says “I can taste the backwash now,” as one of the kids drinks from her bottle, after “demanding” his own drink earlier, because OF COURSE. Nothing is really “yours” when you have kids, right?

The whole video is a montage of the highs and lows of a family road trip. It’s wonderful to make memories your kids will cherish forever but you know from the onset that it’s going to be a wild time.

The viral video has over a million likes and a bunch of comments from her loyal fanbase.

“These are all hilarious but this is your best one girl!”

“These videos are why you’re my favorite TikTok’er”

“As someone who did a 6 week road trip with littles – I can confirm this is brilliant – and accurate!”

“Love that you included live interviews in the reporting today!”

Now that you’re invested in this road trip, you’re probably wondering if they ever make it to their destination. Sullivan posted a follow-up with what’s going on at the lake house.
