Mom advises parents to choose baby names their kids won’t ‘outgrow’

The pressure to choose the perfect baby name is real. There are so many variables to consider—is the name too trendy, not trendy enough, too difficult to spell, too long, too short, etc.—picking the right one can sometimes feel impossible. But when it comes to naming your child, TikTok baby names can be a good place to start. Especially in terms of baby name advice.

One TikTok mom, Ruby Villarreal, shared a response video that has now gone viral (as has the initial video she stitched) about baby names. She says she intentionally chose names her child wouldn’t “outgrow.”

“The whole concept when I was trying to look for a name and choose a name for her is I did not want her to outgrow her name,” Ruby explains. “I wanted the name to fit her as a baby, as a toddler, as a child and into adulthood. So, it’s like I really am happy with what I ended up with naming her and it just fits her so well.”

She explained further in the caption: “love having nicknames as they are younger and it doesn’t mean they will prefer it over their name as they get older. Just gives them options .”

The original video, shared by TikTok mom Nikki Ruble, also brings up an interesting naming strategy.

“When I named my children, I named adults, not babies.”

That’s not to say we can’t give them cutesy little nicknames when they’re little, however.

Now, of course you should name your kids whatever you want to—but this is very valid baby naming advice!
