Kelly Ripa puts Mark Consuelos on blast for his childbirth commentary

Influencer and entertainment podcast host Amanda Hirsch, @notskinnybytnotfat, recently shared a viral graphic on Instagram that asks parents a big question about childbirth experiences. It didn’t take long for the internet to chime in, including celebrity moms.

Kelly Ripa, 52, joined the comments and took the opportunity to call out her husband, Mark Consuelos, 51, on his less-than-ideal bedside etiquette.

The question posed was, “What is one thing that your partner did, said or brought to the hospital that really helped you through your birth experience?”

The “Live with Kelly and Ryan” host shared that her husband once asked, “Do you mind if i eat?” and “I’m going to the batting cages since you’re gonna be here a while.”

Ripa and Consuelos share three children together: Michael, 25, Lola, 21, and Joaquin, 19. While she didn’t specify which child she was in labor with or even if the questions were asked during the same delivery, I really hope it was just the first time when it was they were brand-new as expectant parents!

The viral post garnered thousands of comments from moms who shared their own birth stories featuring comments from their partners who really had the audacity to say whatever popped into their head.

“Its okay, no one cares if you fart, we just need you to get that boy out baby”

“Me: *contracting* *screaming*
Him: *checks contraction monitor* “babe, you’re having a contraction” *continues eating quesadilla*”

“Right before I started pushing: “It’s okay if you poop, I shit my pants when I was 23.”

“As I’m getting wheeled into the operating room for a C section… “so you’re just going to give up”

Not to mention, this hilarious comment about a father who was possibly not fully prepared to be “the father”—”For our first child, He was filling out the paperwork and when it asked for the fathers full name, he said “babe, what’s your dads full name” you’re the father babe.

The whole thing began when an expecting father created the original post asking for genuine advice so he could be better prepared for his wife’s delivery. TODAY reports that Dave Whiteside, the author of the post, is a research consultant in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

He tweeted, “We have never been in this situation before and she has never given birth, so we’re taking shots in the dark at what would work best for her. We don’t know what we don’t know. So why not stand on the shoulders of giants?”

Their baby is due March 27 but he said he and his wife both wanted some perspective from people who have already been there, done that.

“I thought, rather than hearing from the dads who confidently assumed they nailed it, I wanted to hear from the moms who knew their partner nailed it,” he says.
