Keke Palmer was publicly mom-shamed by her own boyfriend, and NOPE

Moms get mom-shamed all the time, and celebrity moms arguably get the worst of it because they’re often subjected to the cruel opinions of thousands of internet commenters on a daily basis. But in Keke Palmer’s case, the mom-shamer in question wasn’t an anonymous troll—it was her own boyfriend, and the father of her baby.

SIGH. (Truly, there aren’t enough sighs in the world for this.)

A video of Keke circulated on Twitter, showing the mama wearing a gorgeous black dress while dancing and singing along as Usher serenaded her and her group during a concert. Her boyfriend, Darius Jackson, decided to quote-tweet the video with his own commentary—publicly mom-shaming the mother of his own child, and his current partner. He criticized her dress, saying “It’s the outfit tho…you a mom.”

Because as we all know, moms of all ages and backgrounds should be content to leave our homes RARELY and while wearing A POTATO SACK.

Almost immediately, Jackson became Twitter’s Enemy No. 1 with everyone from fellow women, moms, men, and other celebrities calling him out for his less-than-complimentary criticisms. Because at the very least, if that’s truly how he feels, he could have brought it up to her IN PRIVATE.

Before deactivating his Twitter account, Jackson doubled down on his stance Wednesday night.

“We live in a generation where a man of the family doesn’t want the wife & mother to his kids to showcase booty cheeks to please others & he gets told how much of a hater he is,” he wrote in a follow-up tweet. “This is my family & my representation. I have standards & morals to what I believe. I rest my case.”

There’s a lot that can be said here, obviously. It’s hardly rare to see men choose to be intimidated by or feel threatened by a powerful, successful woman. You just would hope your own partner would have your back. Because honestly, ladies, if your partner isn’t gassing you up when you look cute and go out on the town, that’s a red flag. Especially when you have a baby and likely don’t get to go out like you used to—Palmer and Jackson couple are parents to four-month-old son Leodis “Leo” Andrellton.

At least Palmer seems happy with her outfit choice!
