Toxic internet culture is the worst. Once again, the internet trolls are making unnecessary comments about women’s bodies.
After attending the 28th Annual Critics Choice Awards on Jan. 15, Christina Applegate, 51, posted a screenshot of a cruel message she received about her appearance.
The “Dead to Me” actress used the awards ceremony as an opportunity for quality mother-daughter bonding time. Her date was none other than her 11-year-old daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble, whom she shares with her husband, musician Martyn LeNoble.
“MS didn’t make you look that way a plastic surgeon did,” the troll wrote to Applegate. “And you are a scammer and are not (Christina) Applegate.”
They added, “And a bad plastic surgeon at that.”
Applegate shared with her followers that the conversation started with a rude comment that she responded to in her DMs by telling them that it, “wasn’t nice.”

The celebrity mom only wanted to see what the comments were surrounding her date with her child. She explained to her followers, “Sooooo I made the unfortunate decision to look at some comments on an article from people mag about me and my kids at the CCA. Of course I told her that it wasn’t nice. This was her reply. What is wrong with people. By the way, I laughed.”
This was the first red carpet appearance for Applegate since she announced her MS diagnosis in August 2021.
While it’s unfortunate that this kind of toxicity exists, it’s not exactly uncommon. From attacking Ashley Graham for taking positivity too far to trying to shame new mom Rebel Wilson for leaving the house, the internet trolls really do seem to have too much time on their hands. But, true fans will always come to the rescue of their favorite celebrities.
Christina Applegate’s fans hurried forth with a slew of positive comments for the actress.
“Well, actually, now that you bring it up, a lot is wrong with people and that’s exactly why they said that to you. It doesn’t even have to do with you. They may as well be talking to themself as the self loathing in that person is beyond obvious. You keep being badass CA!”
“You looked amazing and that suit on your child was Jealousy is an ugly thing that even her plastic surgeon will never be able to fix.”
“Social media is the town square the founders never imagined. Never stop laughing, you deserve better. ”
