Organizers of Geo Week, the leading event uniting geospatial technologies with the built environment, announced a second Keynote: Francis Scott Key Bridge: Rescue, Recovery, and Rebuild. This keynote will take place during Geo Week February 10-12, 2025, at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver, Colorado.
This keynote presentation will discuss the heroic rescue and recovery operations through the eyes of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Army Geospatial Center. Presenters will explore how numerous teams mobilized quickly, leveraging a vast array of geospatial data inputs and advanced analytics to create a groundbreaking common operating picture. This enabled unparalleled collaboration across federal, state, and local levels to address a disaster of this magnitude.
Rhonda Schrenk, CEO of United States Geospatial Intelligence Foundation (USGIF), Mike Aslaksen, Chief, Remote Sensing Division of NOAA’s National Geodetic Survey, and Jeremy Wasson, Lead for Data Integration at the Army Geospatial Center (AGC) will discuss the crucial role geospatial technology played in addressing an infrastructural disaster in one of the U.S.’s largest ports.
“The Francis Scott Key Bridge incident is a powerful reminder of the critical role geospatial intelligence plays in disaster response and infrastructure resilience. Leveraging advanced geospatial data and a common operating picture, we were able to unite agencies at all levels to address an unprecedented challenge,” said Ronda Schrenk, CEO of USGIF. “This keynote will highlight how these technologies not only aided in the immediate rescue and recovery efforts but also serve as a foundation for rebuilding stronger and smarter.”
