11 stylish and comfortable rompers every mom will want to live in this summer

When it comes to mom-friendly summer wardrobes, simplicity is the name of the game. After all, decision fatigue is real, and by the time you’ve taken care of everyone else in the morning, you might only have a whopping three minutes to get yourself ready and out the door. Factor in the rising temps and the need for cool and comfortable options is 100% necessary. The answer? Summer rompers.

Ok. Pause. I will acknowledge that rompers have been a longstanding closet staple of the baby and toddler community. But listen. Summer rompers for women are not only acceptable, they’re downright perfect. I mean, one singular piece of clothing that’s an entire outfit? One that also allows you to chase after small children and sit on the floor without flashing your underwear to everyone around? A dress could never.

Pregnant or postpartum? You could rock some maternity overalls for a similar vibe but there are plenty of bump and belly-friendly options that aren’t even true maternity clothes. (Smash + Tess styles are famously versatile!)

They’re also the ideal clothing for travel. Just pull it on, throw on a layer and you’re comfy all day long. And for vacation itself? Nothing is easier to pack. On a recent trip to Florida, I realized I’d packed four. For FIVE DAYS.

I’ve taken great pleasure in rounding up some of my personal favorites, in both long and short styles to freshen your spring and summer wardrobe. Now what to do with all that extra time? Stand around and look stylish, I suppose.

Long summer rompers for women

Smash + Tess

$130

Saturday Romper

Laid back and comfy but still errand-ready, there’s a reason the Saturday Romper from Smash + Tess is one of their all-time best-sellers. I love the fit which is loose in the torso (a lifesaver for those days you feel bloated) with a tapered leg that’s cropped just above the ankle. As a short gal, I appreciate that it fits perfectly without the need for hemming and looks so cute with fresh kicks!

Sleeveless Jumpsuit

$30

Universal Thread

This breezy, budget-friendly piece is perfect as the temps rise. It’s made from a blend of linen and rayon which is comfy and breathable even into summer. Details like pockets, a keyhole back and button closure and cute cutout at the low back and some extra dashes functionality and style.

Vuori

$94

Lux Jumper

Come for the cult classic Performance Jogger, stay for everything else. Seriously, every one of my Vuori pieces is in regular rotation–the aforementioned joggers, their cozy matching hoodie, and a pair of super flattering leggings–and the first things pulled out of the clean laundry pile. High on my list of spring wardrobe updates is this Lux Jumper which takes everything I love about the joggers and adds a top so I don’t have to. It’s made from supremely soft and wicking fabric and also offers UPF30+ sun protection too!

Outerknown

$168

S.E.A. Suit

I’m a big fan of Outerknown and their laid back surfer style. I pretty much live in their Blanket Shirts all year round and come spring, I’m all about this best-selling S.E.A. suit. It never fails to receive multiple compliments every time I trot it out and it’s just so comfortable. There’s also a plethora of pocket space (how mom-friendly is that?!) and it comes in a ton of colors in the event you want to make it your new uniform.

Free People

$70

Hot Shot Onesie

Throw it over your bathing suit, layer with your favorite tank or even long sleeve shirt and this versatile piece is ready for anything. It’s slouchy and effortless, and there’s even a cute little zip pocket on the back for safe keeping essentials. It’s one of my absolute favorite FP pieces–thankfully there’s always a new color to add to your collection!

Smash + Tess

$130

Elevate Happy Hour Wide Leg Romper

While it may be basic black, the effortless style of this wide leg romper from Smash + Tess does not go unnoticed. The best part? You’re dressed for brunch but feel like you’re wearing jammies. The soft, stretchy fabric is akin to super lightweight sweats which is cozy but not too warm while a drawstring waist and high boat neckline makes a flattering silhouette. Getting dressed takes five seconds total. Who doesn’t love that?

Short summer rompers for women

Z Supply

$69

Adira Cotton Romper

Now that I’ve worn this piece for two straight summers and multiple vacations, I can say with 100% certainty that it’s a must-have. The cotton fabric is great for the hottest summer days whether I’m throwing it on to bike to the beach or dressing it up to wear to dinner. It’s relaxed, stylish and always comes out of the wash looking good as new.

Old Navy

$36

Linen-Blend O-Ring Halter Romper

Breezy and cool, this linen-blend romper from Old Navy gets rave reviews for everything from the fabric to the fit. And with the addition of the tortoise shell ring at the neckline, you don’t even need to think about what necklace to wear! Just pull it on and you’re ready to roll.

Amazon Essentials

$26.99

Women's Studio Terry Fleece Romper

This easy-to-wear basic gets high marks for quality and fit–all for less than 30 bucks. According to one reviewer, “My hunt for the perfect romper is over. No longer do I have to worry about bending over and everyone seeing my unmentionables. This romper has thick fabric, that is somehow not too warm. The length is perfect and the slight v neck adds a fun detail. I love it so much I bought a second color- the true sign of a great piece of clothing.” We agree!

Zesica

$35.99

Sleevless Halter Romper

If you’re on the hunt for a dressy look without the fuss, you’re in luck. With its cute halter neckline, keyhole back and waist-defining sash, this casual but chic romper checks all the boxes. It comes in a rainbow of spring and summer colors and sizes S-XL.

Lulus

$44

Ain't It Grand Romper

Silky and feminine, the Ain’t It Grand Romper is perfect for a summer night out on the town. I just love the bell sleeves and wrap front which give just the right amount of sexy robe vibes which are cinched with a sash to define your waist. And for less than 50 bucks? What a steal.
